PART 1: BASIC GAME RULES
โ Quick Summary: How to Play?
- Step 1: Create your fantasy team of 12 players within โฌ100 million budget
- Step 2: Create a lineup for each matchday of 7 players from your 12-player fantasy team
- Step 3: Your players earn points based on their real performance in matches
- Step 4: Make weekly transfers to optimize your team (1 free per week)

๐ก Tip: Just start! The best way to learn the game is by playing it.
Concepts 'Fantasy Team' and 'Lineup'
Fantasy Team (Selection of 12 players)
This is your complete squad of 12 players that you assemble within your budget of โฌ100 million. These are all your players including reserves and bench players.
๐ Think of this as your "full selection" or "player pool"
Lineup (Selection of 7 players)
These are the 7 players you choose from your 12-player fantasy team to put on the court for a specific matchday. Only these 7 players earn points during that matchday.
๐ Think of this as your "starting lineup" for that matchday

1. Manage Fantasy Team (12 Players)
Spend a fictional budget of โฌ100 million. The price of each player is based op their qualities and performance.
Each team contains a maximum of 12 players:
- Maximum 2 Setters (SET)
- Maximum 3 Wing Spikers (WING)
- Maximum 3 Middle Attackers (MID)
- Maximum 2 Opposites (OPP)
- Maximum 2 Liberos (LIB)
You can select a maximum of 2 players from the same club.
๐ธ Screenshot: Manage Fantasy Team

2. Create Lineup (7 Players from your 12)
Once you have assembled your fantasy team of 12 players, you create a lineup of 7 players for each matchday.
The other 5 players from your 12-player team are reserves/bench players.
โ ๏ธ From season 2026-2027 (Volley Squadra 2.0) reserve players change: they will contribute 25% of their fantasy points to your team total. See Part 3 ยท section 11.
Your previous lineup is always automatically copied to the new matchday. As long as the new matchday has not started, you can make adjustments to your lineup.
Tips:
- The automatic copying ensures you don't miss points, but you miss the chance to choose an optimal lineup
๐ธ Screenshot: Create Lineup

3. How does the point scoring work?
Your players earn fantasy points based on their performance in real matches.
Main Point Categories
- Match Result: Points based on number of sets won (3-0 gives more than 3-2)
- Service: Points for successful services and aces, deduction for errors
- Reception: Points for quality of reception (especially important for liberos)
- Attack: Points for successful attacks and kill percentages
- Block: Points for successful blocks
- Game Status: Extra points for players who start or substitute
๐ก Tip for Beginners:
You don't need to fully understand the point system to start. Just choose your favorite players and learn along the way which actions earn the most points. For exact calculations, see the Detailed Points Table in Part 2: Advanced Rules.
4. Transfers
๐ฎ Starting before the Volley Lotto League competition
If you just created a fantasy team, you can make unlimited player transfers until the next deadline (start of matchday 1).
Only when you have a complete fantasy team of 12 players assembled, you can create your lineup for the matchday. So you must first complete your team before you can work on the lineup for the first matchday.
๐ฎ Starting when Volley Lotto League has already begun
When you start later, meaning when the LottoLeague competition has already begun, the same rule applies as at the start of the competition: You can transfer unlimited players until the deadline (start of the matchday). Again: first select 12 players, then set up your lineup.
Transfers during the Fantasy Competition
During the competition you can make 1 or 2 transfers per matchday.
5. Competitions and Ranking
After each matchday we collect statistical data from the played matches and award fantasy points to each player based on this. If this player was also in your lineup, these fantasy points will be added to your team total. Then we compare your total points for that matchday with all other fantasy teams and you will be placed in the ranking. Under the menu item 'Rankings' you can see both the ranking for that matchday, as well as the total ranking over the entire season.
On the homepage you will also see the top players of the week. As well as the top players over the entire season.
Maybe this will spark your interest to purchase one of these players for your fantasy team?
๐Squadra Divisions (Volley Squadra 2.0)
From season 2026-2027 you play in one of up to six Squadra Divisions, from Paper (start) to Diamond (top). Your division does not depend on a fixed spot in the overall ranking but on promotion and relegation after every matchday (see below). Your division badge is shown on your fantasy team page and in the ranking.
Number of active divisions: this depends on the number of registered teams (guideline: at least 16 teams per division, minimum 2 and maximum 6 divisions). With fewer registrations the highest divisions are dropped: Paper is always the start division, the summit may then be Golden instead of Diamond. The exact number is announced at launch.
๐ก Tip: your badge is updated after every completed matchday. Climb from Paper via Wood, Bronze, Silver and Golden to the coveted Diamond level!
๐Volley Squadra 2.0 โ Paper โ Diamond divisions
These rules take effect from season 2026-2027 and fully replace the former fixed rank ranges.
Instead of one large overall ranking, in 2.0 you play in one of up to six divisions, from Paper (lowest) to Diamond (highest) โ see above for the number of active divisions. Each division has its own ranking and its own competition.
How does the shift work after each matchday?
- After each matchday, each fantasy team's matchday points are added to their overall total.
- Within each division, a new ranking is created based on those updated overall totals.
- 25% rule: the top 25% of a division is promoted to the division above, and the bottom 25% is relegated to the division below.
Exception: the first matchdays (seeding)
At the start of the competition everyone begins in the Paper division. Because the higher divisions are still empty, the first 5 matchdays use fixed, larger shift counts. This way each division gradually fills up:
- After matchday 1 a larger top group moves up from Paper
- On the following matchdays fixed numbers move up again, one division higher each time
- On a seeding matchday only those fixed numbers apply (no 25% rule)
- After the last seeding matchday every active division is filled for the first time
- From then on the normal 25% promotion/relegation rule applies
The seeding counts per matchday are announced at the October 2026 launch and are shown in the ranking (division header).
๐ก Strategic: Because you can promote or relegate every matchday, every matchday stays relevant โ even late in the season. Consistent performance pays off double: high division + high within that division.

6. Detailed Point System
This table shows the exact point scoring for all actions. You don't need to memorize this - the system calculates everything automatically. This information is especially useful if you want to understand why certain players have earned more points than others.
| Action | Points | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Won 3-0 | +10 | Your team wins 25-20, 25-18, 25-22 |
| Won 3-1 | +8 | Your team wins 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15 |
| Won 3-2 | +5 | Your team wins 25-23, 20-25, 25-27, 25-20, 15-12 |
| Lost 2-3 | +2 | Your team loses 23-25, 25-20, 27-25, 20-25, 12-15 |
| Lost 1-3 | +1 | Your team loses 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-25 |
| Lost 0-3 | 0 | Your team loses 20-25, 18-25, 22-25 |

7. Special Libero Rules
Libero Status: Liberos are always considered as substitutes, even if they play from set 1.
Reason: In volleyball, the libero is a specialized defensive position that can switch at any time with back court players without formal substitution. That's why they always get substitute points (+3), regardless of when they start playing.
Condition: Liberos only get points if they actually have statistics (meaning they really played). A libero who stays on the bench and doesn't substitute in, gets no points.
Lineup Position: Liberos can only be placed on court position 0 in your fantasy lineup.
8. Special Setter Rules
Lineup Position: Setters can only be placed on court position 1.
Statistics: For setters certain statistics are calculated based on team performance
The setting excellent, setting excellent percentage and setting error are derived from the team's attack statistics (attack excellent, attack excellent percentage, and attack errors + attack blocked). This distribution happens proportionally based on the playing time of each setter:
- A setter who plays a complete set gets 4 parts of the statistics
- If two setters play in the same set, the starter gets 3 parts and the substitute 1 part
- The total team statistics are distributed among all setters based on their share of playing time
Point Distribution: Setters earn points based on their own performance in various categories:
- Service: Points for successful serves and aces (like all positions)
- Sets: +1 point per 5 excellent passes
- Setting Percentage Bonus: +2 points for every 5% above 30% excellent percentage
- Setting Errors: -1 point per 3 errors
- Attack: +3.5 points per excellent attack (same as opposite and middle blocker)
- Attack Percentage: +1 point per 10% above 30% excellent attack percentage
- Block: +3 points per block (same as wing spiker)
- Match Result: Bonus for winning based on number of sets (like all positions)
9. Additional Notes
- Percentage bonuses are calculated as: (percentage ร total number of actions)
- There are escalating penalties for many errors (service, attack)
PART 3: VOLLEY SQUADRA 2.0 (season 2026-2027)
๐ What's new from October 2026?
With the launch of the new 2026-2027 season, Volley Squadra introduces a series of 2.0 features that make the game deeper, more competitive and more mobile. The base rules from Parts 1 and 2 remain in force โ the rules below come on top.
- ๐ Trophies & unlockable analysis tools
- ๐ฅ Reserve players contribute 25% to the team total
- ๐ New Paper โ Diamond promotion/relegation system
๐ธ Screenshot: My Team in Volley Squadra 2.0 (Trophy Cabinet & Analysis Tools)

10. Trophies & Tools
You earn trophies by achieving certain milestones during the season โ for example a top week, a strong final ranking, or consistently scoring above a certain threshold. Each trophy is more than just a badge: it also unlocks extra analysis and advice tools that help you make better transfer and lineup decisions.
Examples of unlockable tools:
- Form Tracker โ see which players are in form
- Transfer Analyzer โ analyse the impact of a potential transfer
- Additional statistical depth per player and team
The full list of trophies and unlockable tools is available on your fantasy team page under Trophies and Tools.
๐ธ Screenshot: Analysis Tools โ XP earns spins for random tools

๐ธ Screenshot: Trophies โ earned badges per category

11. Reserve players count (25% rule)
In 2.0, your reserve players also earn points. The 5 players in your 12-player fantasy team who are not in your lineup of 7 contribute 25% of their fantasy points to your team total.
What does this mean in practice?
- Your lineup of 7 remains most important โ it counts for 100% of their points
- Your bench of 5 adds an extra contribution (25%), so the quality of your reserves matters too
- Bench management becomes more strategic: a strong reserve who plays often is more valuable than a benched star who rarely gets on the court
๐ก Example: Your 7 lineup players score 180 points combined. Your 5 reserve players score 60 points combined in their real matches. Your team total becomes: 180 + (60 ร 25%) = 195 points.
12. Promotion/Relegation system (Paper โ Diamond)
The Squadra Divisions from Part 1 are replaced in 2.0 by a full promotion and relegation systemacross six divisions (Paper, Wood, Bronze, Silver, Golden, Diamond). After each matchday the top 25% are promoted and the bottom 25% are relegated within their division, with a special seeding rule for the first 5 matchdays.
๐ See the full explanation in Part 1 ยท chapter 5 (section "Volley Squadra 2.0 โ Paper โ Diamond divisions").
